The University of Glamorgan held its eighteenth annual Glammies animation awards on Friday 1st June.

The awards recognise the best and brightest new animation and computer games talent produced by the university’s Cardiff School of Creative and Cultural Industries. The awards are open to students on the BA (Hons) Animation, BA (Hons) Computer Animation and BA (Hons) Game Art and Animation courses.

This year’s event was held at Cineworld cinema in Cardiff, where students were able showcase their creations on the big screen. The screenings were then followed by a reception and networking session at the city’s Park Inn Hotel.

“The entries this year were particularly strong with a lot of variety of approach and content, and it was a real struggle for the industry judges to pick the winners.” said Gareth Hutchinson, Award Leader on the BA (Hons) Computer Animation course at the university.

“The animation team are very proud of all the students who took part and those that are graduating this year, regardless of whether they collected an award or not. I think it’s clear from the quality of work on show that we have produced some very talented young animators in a wide range of disciplines who will go on to do great things, and we wish them every success in their future careers.”
