The Music Academy

A band playing The Music Academy is a new initiative offering work based learning courses for the music industry in Wales. It is based at the University of Glamorgan’s Cardiff School of Creative and Cultural Industries at the ATRiuM campus.

The academy has now received European Convergence Funding to provide an accredited Foundation Degree for the music industry in Wales – The Foundation Degree in Music Industry Entrepreneurship.

The project began in September 2011 and is backed by the Welsh Music Foundation, Roland UK and Creative and Cultural Skills.

The Music Academy was created by the University of Glamorgan’s Cardiff School of Creative and Cultural Industries in partnership with Roland UK. It was founded with the aim of delivering world-class music training both nationally and internationally throughout the national qualifications framework.

The academy was formally opened in April 2008 by Ikutaro Kakehashi, the founder of the Roland Corporation.
