Student radio station provides Exposure for CCI talent

January 23, 2012

Exposure Ad Exposure Radio, the University of Glamorgan’s major online radio project, launches for three weeks from Monday 23rd January.

Students from Cardiff School of Creative and Cultural Industries are running the station, which will be live streamed at www.exposureradio.org.

Postgraduate and undergraduate students in radio, journalism and television will be broadcasting a range of programmes targeting those associated with the university.

Senior lecturer Julie Kissick, who previously worked as acting editor of Radio Wales, said: “This is the culmination of three years hard work for our undergraduates. The project allows them to put their learning into practice in as near to professional conditions as we can simulate in a learning environment”.
“They get the chance to work with postgraduate specialists in a challenging and creative environment.”

Exposure Radio ran for a month last year and involved more than 80 students. The feedback from those involved was extremely positive and the decision has been taken to broaden the project this year by involving students from more modules.

“This year we have included television presentation students as well, which will give the website an added dimension,” added Julie Kissick.

“Our schedule reflects the kinds of programming we believe our target audience will be interested in, so we have features on people who work and study on our various campuses as well as stories which focus on our graduates.”

Among the daily shows are Spotlight on Glamorgan, a magazine show which focuses on what’s happening in and around the university’s campuses, Stories Behind the Songs, which takes listeners on a musical journey in the company of someone significant to Glamorgan and Sports Talk, a round-up of the sports news from campus and beyond.

Exposure Radio’s daily schedule runs from 10am until 5pm weekdays.
