Film, Photography and New Media

As the name suggests, the division’s subject area is primarily that of the still and moving image, whether generated digitally or through more traditional means.
Students benefit from teaching by an expert team of lecturers, many of whom come from professional careers and continue their practice through research projects at the University. Practical work is underpinned by theory and subject history is partnered with an awareness of contemporary developments in each respective medium.
The division houses a number of undergraduate degrees, focused on either practice-based or study-based exploration of the still and/or moving image:
- BA (Hons) Film Studies
- BA (Hons) Film & Video
- BA (Hons) Photography
- BA (Hons) Media Production (including a bilingual pathway).
The division also has 3 postgraduate awards:
- MA Moving Image
- MA Film Producing
- MA Scriptwriting (shared with the Division of Drama and Music).
