Exceptional Staff

The Division of Music and Sound at the University of Glamorgan has 16 members of academic staff with an exceptional level of academic and practical qualifications. All staff are engaged in professional practice in the industry as well as academic research.

  • There are five members of staff who have completed PhD studies
  • Seven have Masters qualifications (two MMus, one MA in Composition, two in Music Technology, one Digital Media Technologies and one MPhil.
  • Five have Music Degrees, two have Music Technology degrees, four Science degrees and two Arts degrees.
  • Four are Members of the Music Producers Guild (two of whom have been directors)
  • The team also includes three Chartered Engineeers, four MU members, a qualified Digidesign instructor and qualified Logic instructor

Additionally working musicians and producers act as visiting lecturing staff, which ensures there is constant interchange with the industry.

Industry Accredited Awards

Both the BSc (Hons) Music Technology and BSc (Hons) Sound Technology awards have Joint Audio Media Education Services accreditation (UK Screen, MPG and APRS accreditation).

Outstanding facilities

Studying within the Music and Sound division will allow you access to exceptional facilities. The music recording studios, music rehearsal rooms and live sound space are all built with full floating floors and acoustically designed isolation. There is a copper superhighway that permits any control room to work with any live room, band rehearsal room and the theatre. Term time access includes evenings all week and weekend days.

 

Career Prospects

Many of our former students are now working in key roles within the music industry, using the skills they developed whilst studying at the University of Glamorgan.
